Below I have attached four different links to resources. I intend to continue to update these resources, as I am still completing my PSIII internship and will need to reflect and add resources in the near future.
The first one is a chart with the 11 Blackfoot values, a list of Indigenous resources that can be used to teach and refer students to the value, as well as non-Indigenous resources that can also be used to support the value being taught. The titles that are in bold are the books I used personally when teaching the value to my Grade 1/2 students.
The second chart I have added is a list of Indigenous literacy teaching resources. These are general literacy resources that can be used within the classroom to teach Indigenous content. All resources included are appropriate for K-3, unless otherwise stated. These resources can be used to introduce or support a new Blackfoot value, or more generally within the classroom. There are also videos which can be used to incorporate and teach Indigenous content or be used for specific days, such as Orange Shirt Day. These are also resources I will be continually updated as I continue in my own personal professional development of adding as many Indigenous books to my classroom library.
The third chart I have added is a list of general virtual teaching resources that can be used within a classroom, or online classroom, to teach Indigenous content. All resources included are appropriate for K-3, unless otherwise stated. These resources can be used to introduce or support a new Blackfoot value, or more generally within the classroom. There are also videos which can be used to incorporate and teach Indigenous content or be used for specific days, such as Orange Shirt Day.
The fourth chart I have added is a list of professional resources that teachers can use prior to and during teaching Indigenous content. These are books and videos that can help teachers develop their professional knowledge of Indigenous content in order to grow and feel more comfortable teaching this content.
